As Saturday approaches and the old boards/glass are just about ready to ship we're able to start making room to tear down our current rink. We'll start with the penalty boxes, scorers table, and player benches. From there we can move on to pulling boards on the south side if we have staging room. We'll also stack all the remaining glass, load mats and some of the glass in the container, and finish rinsing/hanging the remaining vinyl.
The truck/trailer hauling the old boards is scheduled to arrive Saturday at 10:00am and we'll have exactly two hours to load it. It's all on pallets and we just need to band the last couple up. Friday night we'll stage everything in the parking lot and make sure it'll all go in the trailer. Then, Saturday, we just have to load it up and (with tears in our eyes) wave goodbye.
We've always had a handful of folks step up to help get things done when needed. This year, with all the challenges and time constraints, we'll need more than just a handful. If you can spare some time, any time, please come out and join the party.
As throughout the season, make sure you're up to speed on using DIBS to claim work hours. See the link below for help with that. One quick note on that: any hours put in to help with the old rink can be claimed for in-season hours or rink teardown hours. And, as always, check back here frequently for updates.
THURSDAY, MARCH 28 4:00pm start
FRIDAY, MARCH 29 5:00pm start
SATURDAY, MARCH 30 8:00am start
Work will continue each day as long as help is available.
